Buying Pokémon cards in bulk: a practical collector’s checklist

Bulk buying is useful when you have a reason for the quantity. Start with the exact cards you need, then compare the savings with the total cost, storage and condition requirements.

Understand what “bulk” means in the listing

The word can describe very different purchases: a mixed lot, a sealed product order or several copies of one single card. Read the listing carefully. On Cardora, quantity options mean copies of the same selected single card. Choosing 36 does not buy 36 booster packs or 36 different designs.

This distinction matters if you are planning a group purchase, repeated binder pages or a resale assortment. Confirm the product type first, then write down the quantity of each exact design you need.

Build a list with complete references

Use the set, language and printed card number to identify each item. A short list that says “Eevee cards” leaves too much room for confusion. A complete list lets you compare quotes and check delivery against what was agreed.

Keep one line per card design, with columns for quantity, unit price, discount and line total. If you are buying for a group, also record who requested each item. Work out the quantities from that plan rather than increasing them only to reach a discount tier.

How Cardora quantity tiers work

Each card design is assessed separately. Six to eleven copies receive 3% off, twelve to thirty-five receive 5%, thirty-six to seventy-one receive 8%, and seventy-two or more receive 10%. Quantities of different designs are not pooled to unlock a higher tier.

For example, using an illustrative price of $100 per card, twelve copies have a $1,200 subtotal. A 5% discount saves $60, leaving a $1,140 card total before shipping and applicable taxes. This is a calculation example, not a quote for a particular card.

By contrast, six copies each of two different designs are two separate six-copy lines. Each line receives its own eligible discount. Checkout calculates the savings, but you should still compare the final reviewed quote with your original list.

Condition should be part of the quantity conversation

One excellent photograph does not establish the condition of an entire batch. Ask whether the copies are expected to share a condition standard and how any differences will be described. For a larger order, discuss representative photographs and how exceptions will be handled before you pay.

Catalog artwork identifies the design; it is not evidence of the specific stock’s condition. Be especially clear if surface marks, centering or edge wear matter to your purpose. Do not assume every copy will receive the same third-party grade later.

Compare costs beyond the discount

Your delivered cost includes more than the card total. Review the shipping service, taxes, possible import charges and payment-provider fees. If you plan to resell, include your own packaging and selling costs in your calculations rather than treating the bulk discount as profit.

Inventory also takes space and ties up money. Buying extra copies simply because the next tier offers a higher percentage can leave you with items you did not need. A smaller order that matches your plan can be a better decision than a larger discounted one.

Review, payment and receipt

At Cardora, submitting checkout sends an order request and acknowledgment. It does not collect payment. We confirm availability, condition, shipping and the final payable total before sending instructions. Displayed stock quantities are catalog limits rather than a live reservation, so confirm large requests during review.

When the order arrives, compare the contents with the agreed item list and inspect the cards carefully. Keep packaging while you check the parcel. Contact us promptly about any missing, incorrect or materially misdescribed items and include your order number.

Your pre-payment checklist

A good bulk order is easy to explain before payment and easy to check afterward. Let your plan determine the quantity, and let the full quote determine whether it fits your budget.
